Civil Society

Standing together for a strong civil society partnership for conservation

Conservation needs lobbying. That's why at NABU we also take initiative to foster civil society and strengthen NGOs. We are part of the global partnership of conservation organizations like BirdLife International. With many of the partners we work together.

NABU is part of a strong global network of conservation NGOs around the world: BirdLife International.

As an active partner of this network we support organisational and capacity development, raise funds and collaborate for projects and join in for campaigning with our worldwide partners. Together we can play a critical role in conservation standing up for threatened habitats and species.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis, many environmental NGOs are facing additional operational challenges and financial constraints—all of which may last for a considerable time. At the same time, shrinking economies, little priority of governments on nature when providing emergency funding to support recovery, unemployment, and imperatives to restart economic activities are driving increased exploitation of nature and unsustainable development.

More than ever, conservation NGOs need support to step in and protect key sites and habitats, and advocate for sustainable development options.
